Self employed+employee, possible?

    set myself up a business a few months ago and wasnt 2 sure of all the tax+vat issues so wasnt paying any or giving receipts. im a service provider so theres no goods involved. anyway, my friend has a company and used me quite a bit and paid me cash but now hes asking can he register me as actully being employd by him to show where the money has gone and who did that work for him. i signed dockets and **** 2. im set up properly now with vat+all so will be giving him receipts and all from now on, but wat will we do about the money he has paid? ill be doing a good bit of work for others now too so wont be exclusivly working for him and never was. any1 know the best way to go bout this since i want to keep his business and not get him or me in truble?

    First off, yes it's possible to be self employed and an employee at the same time e.g. doctors who have their own practice and at the same time work as an employee at a hospital.

    This guide should help you there's criteria of what usually classifies an employee and self-employed person and also contact details at the end.

    Your best bet is to contact Revenue and provide them with the details of your situation.
