Do you know everyone here

After hanging around here for a few years I would have thought I would know most of the regulars but no, every other minute I see a new user with 10,000 posts, heres me thinking how can i not have come across this guy before sure he has ten thousand posts, so what about all ye, are you discovering new users with humongous postcounts or do you know everyone already

I wouldnt go so far as to say 'every other minute' but once in a while one crops up. A lot of people just stick to one or two forums and if ya don't visit those forums, you aint gonna see 'em. I'd guess poker and soccer are kinda like that.

I've noticed a lot more users with thousands of posts I don't recognise but then I check their profile and see they had a name change.

I wish people weren't allowed do that. It's very confusing.

Everyone thats come to boards.ie from about 03/4 have come on around the 'broadband boom'.. thats when i lost track of the names!

before that i knew a good 70/80% of the names.. now its 30%

Most people tend to stick to the forums they come on here for.. but the real boards people just go to what ever forums have something they can talk about or waste time in work with

i like to see what ever forums i can, but id say i've ventured into only about 40% of the forums! Not to mention the ammount of people on the hidden boards forums too ;o

A lot of people never post in AH, it is that simple, some people just stick to thier regular few forums and are happy to be just part of the community there and don't venture eslse where.

I'd know everyone that posts regularly in photography & Waterford, and most of the people that post here (And most of the 'usual' characters that pop up about the place), though I don't post here too often.

"Knowing" can mean a lot of different things? Everything from simple recognition of the user name to the Biblical sense of the word? Well, I recognise many frequent posters, but few at the other extreme. Ha!

Yes i only recognise 3. Thaedydal, agent smith (both mods... easier to remember) and moosejam.

There are a load of posters i nthe poker forum that I have never seen post anywhere else (and for my first 2k posts I was one of them probably). There are a couple with 5k+ that I haven't come across elsewhere on here.

As for knowing people (probably not what was meant), but I know a lot of the posters on the poker forum personally and a few of the others, including some of the gods of boards.

If you subscribe to boards then you can request a name change. Here's the thread with all the info on how to do it. MooseJam is a good name though. Memorable.

I'd know a good few people, especially mods through the mod forum. Occasionally though, new people pop up who've been here for many years, just don't post in the forums I do.

I got to know a good few users who were going through the same as me (dialup and IrelandOffline) and I still see them posting about which is good. Covering a good few busy forums and smod duty will put you with plenty of other moderators and users.
