do you plan to play tourney or cash? most important thing I think is to join a site with a intro bonus... so if you deposit your 50 quid they will give you another 50 or whatever...

You need to start with at least $5,000 and put it on the $1-$2 tables on Mansion. Do you have any particular username in mind? :D

just kidding. $50 is fine. Consider it an investment that you will probably lose and only play $5 SnGs or micro limits to start.

I'd advise signing up to an ipoker skin as opposed to stars or full tilt as the difference in quality of player is huge. I've just moved from stars to gjp and am annoyed at myself for not doing so sooner

Sign up too that site that offers the worst sign-up bonus. If your a winning play you'll be alot happier in the long term.

Carlop is right, sign up to poker sites that are part of a sports betting firm. So much more fishy. Ladbrookes, ipoker, betfair are all great.

betfair only do a $150 dollar sign up bonus so that's €111, so if you can stretch to that sign up for the full amount, clear that bonus a go somewhere else. Cos apart for that and the fish, betfair is ****ing awful.

Just start with the minimum required to join. For me however, I usually start out with $100. Also, it depends if you have a set max you want to bet.

If you're lodging $50 why dont you try something like this:

    http://www.pokernetonline.com/

They give you $50 for free to mplay with. There are other simialr offers available if you have a look on google.

You shouldn’t be risking more than 10% of your bankroll if you are playing cash or 1 table sit n’ gos.

So sit at $5 sit n go tables if you are lodging 50.

A good way to build you’re bankroll is as follows ( it allows you to ride out the variance) :
    Lodge $50
Play $5 sit n gos until you reach $100
Then Play $10 euro sit n gos until you reach $200 (double you balance).
Play $20 sit n gos until you reach $400
    Then increase again..
    Etc.

If I go on a losing streak and lose half my bankroll, then I drop back down a level so I only need to buy in for half. Then I try to work it back up.

Obviously if you begin on a losing streak you’ll be going in reverse, i.e. to $2 sit n gos, and then $1 tables!! That’s less fun

So if you lose 5 games in a row you drop down a level? You must be up and down like a yo-yo.

2+2 say 100 buy-ins for the level you're playing but for a good player playing these low levels you should be able to get away with 30-50 imo. I definitely wouldn't be playing with only 10 buy-ins and dropping down if I lost 5 though.
