My name is Caitrina Cody and I'm next year's editor of the UCD College Tribune, an award-winning independent student newspaper. We are currently seeking a design editor for next year, starting in September. Its a voluntary position (none of the positions on the newspaper are paid because we don't get funding from UCD, just from advertising) but its great experience for anyone interested in a career in graphic design and looks good on the CV. Knowledge of indesign, adobe and quark is helpful but training would be provided. If anyone out theres is interested in doing an interview, send me a reply.

Hi Catriona. Well done on becoming next year's editor. I was editor in 2001. Great fun.

If you haven't already, you might also consider advertising for this position on the boards at www.creativeireland.com, where you'll find many other graphic designers who don't visit www.boards.ie.

Thanks! I haven't done that but I will now. I'm really looking forward to starting in September, I'm very excited about it. I've got my editorial team in place, almost, except for a design editor and a sports editor. Were you editor of the College Tribune in 2000-01?! Cause I've met the two editors from 2001-02. Nice to meet you!

You met Eoghan and Fergus? Or Peter and Cormac? I was before both of those. 2000-01, I think. Best of luck with the year, enjoy it. I'm around UCD the odd time and would love to drop in. I always enjoy reading the Trib!

So that means you're Bernard or Thomas right? (a quick consultation with wikipedia!) Do drop in whenever you're around, it'd be nice to have a chat. Eoghan is on the board so I met him at a meeting to discuss next year and I did some work experience with Fergus in the Sun. What are you up to yourself at the moment?

Yeah, I'm Thomas. I was also involved in the Evil Gerald on and offline. I didn't know there was a Wikipedia entry! Cool. Erm, I did a Masters and am working in an NGO - development aid stuff, but I'm in Ireland.

Still can't get publishing out of my blood, though. I make this thing on a voluntary basis now.

had a look at your link, very nice. i've had a few responses from creativeireland which is encouraging, although most seem almost too qualified for what we're offering! definitely do come in during the year, you can have a look at the paper and tell us what you think of the layout and the entertainment supplement and everything. it'd be nice to get your opinion
