"Growth" on my chest.

I've got a strange kind of growth in the middle of my chest situated over my breast bone. I've had it for years. It doesn't cause me any pain or any nuisance like that. I know people aren't supposed to give out medical advice here but I saw my GP and he didn't know what it was. This makes me a little bit worried because I don't know where else to turn to....I was wondering could I go to the casualty and have them look at it.

I'd really love to know what it is after having it so long. Its like a lump under the skin over my sternum. I showed it to my family but they had no idea. I was going to post a picture but I'm not sure if this post is allowed. Its not disgusting or anything like that...there's no liquid or puss coming out of it or anything....would I be able to go to my local hospital with something like this?

Your GP should refer you to the hospital for a biopsy, or at least an examination.
It is probably a dermatological issue (skin) or an orthopaedic (bone).
    Ask your GP again.

I would have thought that if your doctor didn't know what it was he would have sent you to see a skin specialist or someone like that.

I cant see what anyone on Boards can advise you to do other than to either get a second opinion or go to the hospital and seek advice there.

Go back and get your dr to send you for a consult if they won't then try a differnt dr.
