    1/2 6-max

Villain has been really aggro since I've sat down. I've done nothing particular. I have been aggro in position, but nothing crazy.

    Stacks
    Me 380 - bb
    villain covers - button

    Preflop
Folded to villain who opens to 7, I 3-bet him on his last button raise, but this time I call with AQo.

    Flop (15)
    Q55r
    I chk, he bets 15, I call

    Turn (45)
    A making flush draw
I chk, he bets 37, I think a time, and call.

    River (122)
    3 making flush
I chk, villain thinks for quite some time, and finally bets 222. What do you like?

Its an insta call for me, but i play a few levels below you..

Why didnt you raise the flop? Surely thats a great flop for you against a aggro nut. I re-raise to about 45.

Because you want to let him keep bluffing.

Then why should we be asking if the river is a call or not? Surely this is a perfect river move by him then?

a while ago i decided to never call river overbets without close to the nuts, unless i have a strong read, and i haven't regretted it yet.
i'd instacall a pot bet here, but for nearly twice the pot i think i just fold-he's rarely bluffing and he's hardly value betting worse.

QTF, this is good advice i think, its normally a "lets make it look like a bluff" type of bet.

I have made a similar decision.

This time, however, I overrode it and called him, because he had been so aggro, and I looked so weak, that he was more likely to expect me to fold than call.

    He had KTo, and MHIG.

I think I would fold. I don't understand why you "looked so weak", you checked 3 times but you aren't continuing on this board with nothing. If you have a relatively tight image it looks like you have a good hand that you don't want to fold.

Well its a reasonable bluff card for him, and I haven't taken any aggressive action postflop, so from his point of view, I can have a one-pair hand a fair amount that is prepared to fold a river bet.

you mean 2 pair? Do you ever call the turn with 88? Even if villain is very aggro I give up with those hands on 4th.

Right, I usually give up with 88 etc. to a 2nd barrell, especially on an Ace. But I chk because the A is such a good bluff card for aggro guy, and he fires, and I call, and then the river is yet another bluff card, so I chk and he fires again.

Yes you usually give up here with 88. Occasionally you decide to call him down, ostensibly for metagame but actually so you can put him on tilt when you turn over your hand at the end. But normally when you have 88 you folded it it already. So he thinks you usually have an actual hand, not a bluffcatcher. 88 doesn't even beat all his bluffs.
