Wondering if anybody has any experience of the Cygnum 'Silent Home' package in terms of reducing noise transmission through the house. Any info on how effective it is would be appreciated.

Tipperary we used it in our tf home. Cygnum were very good to deal with. The cost of the silent home is fairly reasonable about €2500 for our 2500sq ft house. It seems to be working away fairly well but doesn't eliminate noise transfer but then again, concrete slab is probably best option in that regard.

We went with fermacell plasterboard which gives additional noise reduction.

good luck with the build, take plenty of photos and keep a diary, just in case you need to rely on anything at a later stage.

I have also been quoted for this package. See below. Just wondering if its the same one as you got watching

    Cygnum silent home package €4503

Package is a package designed to achieve levels of sound insulation higher than standard block construction. Impact sound on the mid floor (where applicable) is reduced by supplying an additional layer of 18mm OSB and a layer 18mm gyproc plank. Furthermore, airborne sound between the groyund floor and the 1st floor (where applicable) is reduced by supplying 100mm acoustic insulation for themed floor. Finally the standard 12.5mm plasterboard is replaced by 15mm Soundbloc board for internal walls. Soundbloc is a high density plasterboard frequently used in hotels and offices where noise reduction is essential.

Here are some options on how to achieve good sound-proofing with internal walls in this link.

This is the middle floor link, they basically put soft materials between hard materials.
