    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows is broadband available in a place called Balrobuck, near Corandulla, in Galway? I hear that the Corandulla exchange has, indeed, been upgraded, but not sure if that's good enough to affect Balrobuck.

    Hi there

You don't mention if you have tried the Eircom line checker but if you already have a telephone line, try plugging in the number to the broadband checker on www.smartelecom.ie to confirm which exchange you're connected to.

Might also be worth checking http://broadband.gov.ie to see what other alternatives are available.

You could try dial-up Dempsey's website http://mapviewer.broadband.gov.ie/ServiceByLocationSearchWF.aspx and click your location to see if it gives any clues. Be aware that a lot (if not most) of the local smaller wireless operators aren't listed on this site and those that are, are vastly misrepresented in most cases. It might help you determine if you are within range of DSL though. Do you have a phone line you can check, or can you check a close neighbour's number?

I'm actually in Kildare, but moving to Balrobuck, so I don't have a number to check, and no neighbours to ask, unfortunately.

That said, thanks jor_el. I checked that site, and it seems that I'll be fine, and won't have to kick the broadband habit just yet. :)

    spelt corrandulla or corrundulla

    go here

    http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/search.ds

search for John or Mary in Corrandulla and see which John or Mary Or Michael lives in your part of it. Its simply rotten with split lines out there so be careful.

I would say its too far out of Galway for wireless but not too far from the exchange. This map tells you the local townlands nearby.

if those failed, then O2 Broadband could be a possibility. THey have coverage up that way from Ballybrit which extends just short of Corrandulla on the south. However both Clooneen and Cahervoley might bring you luck in the near future.

Indeed, it looks like I'll definitely be in range of the exchange. Happy days.

    Thanks for the tips!
