Hi all, newbie here. I hope this is the right place for this question

Have looked everywhere but cant seem to find anywhere in Cork that does DS repairs.
Long story, but started off with broken hinge - got a new casing which went well, but I kinked the ribbon cable to the top screen. Got a new ribbon cable, which I managed to banjax as well. In doing so I broke one of the little black clips that holds the cable in place. I am loathe to waste more money trying to fix it myself. Anyone got any suggestions for a repair shop?
Little lad devastated, so any help appreciated.

    How old is it?

21/2 years old. Very much doubt Nintendo would help after what I did to it.:)

Hi -- I don't have an answer to your question (I live in the US), but found this bit of info regarding repairing the DS and thought it might prove helpful [this is not my post, but a copy of someone else's]...
I hope I have the right forum. I bought a broken Nintendo DS (not Lite). Actually I bought 2. One had a broken hinge and the other a broken top LCD screen. Both units powered up and worked fine. I took the good LCD out of the one with the broken hinge and put it into the other one to have one perfect DS. Now I have 2 DS's that won't power up. This makes no sense. It was an easy fix. Now they just flash and shut right off. Does anyone out there know what might be wrong? I contacted Nintendo but of course they want me to send it in with $75 plus shipping one way. They will not give advice, they just want your money. I hope someone out there has some experience with these. Thank you.

***This is an update because I have since fixed the DS. Someone from another forum had the same problem. I'm posting this in case anyone else out there is stuck with the same problem.
When you take apart the unit to repair the top screen you'll notice some ribbon cables. The wide ribbon cables go into the clip only one way so there's no problem with them. There is a really small ribbon cable hidden under the wide one. When you put it back together, you have to push the cable in over top of the clip as opposed to underneath which you would normally think of doing. There is a small groove on top of the clip that the cable fits into perfectly. If you put it in underneath, you won't make a connection and the unit will immediately turn off after you turn it on. It's such an easy mistake to make. Of course I made it on two of them. I didn't pay close enough attention to how I took it apart. Hopefully this helps someone else out there that is going nuts over the same problem.

Anyway, I hope this helps. My son's DS is broken and I'm scouring the internet in hopes of finding instructions on how to repair it! alliemack

Thanks Alliemack. I hadn't noticed this reply, so sorry for taking so long to respond. I gave up on the idea of repairing it, and bought a new one from eBay. If you search youtube for "disassemble nintendo ds" there is a very detailed clip (in Spanish but easy to follow) of the whole process. The one part I would watch very carefully is how the long ribbon cable is wound through the hinge. Wither the right screwdrivers its not that difficult, apart from the ribbon cable.
