    Does anyone know shortcuts in Adobe Illustrator CS2 for the follow two actions;

    1. Placing an image.

    2. Switching between open files.

if people know any other nice shortcuts please post!

oh, yeah when I'm thinking about it, is there an easier way to import paths from photoshop apart from exporting them as an ill doc and then opening it separately and scaling to fit the image?!

well the second one is CTRL - TAB
as for placing I just use the move tool (V) to drag an open image into my document.

    Hi Grizzly

You can make your own shortcut for Place (AND any other tool or command you want) in Illustrator.

    1. Choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts

    2. Choose Menu Commands from the drop down menu (it says Tools by default)

    3. Click on File - this will show all the commands under the File Menu

    4. Scroll down to Place. It will be blank for shortcut, so just click in the Place row about halfway across and a field will open up. Type in whatever shortcut you like for Place.

    5. Click OK and your all set to start taking shorcuts!

    all the best

    Hi again

Just re-read your post about exporting from PS to Illustrator. Another option you can try is to select a work path from the Paths palette - click on the paths with the Path Selection tool, copy it and then paste it onto the Illustrator artboard. You can then edit as normal in Illustrator.

The only problem with this is that you can only pick the contents of one workpath at a time in PS so if your vectors are spread over several work paths there will be a fair amount of backwarding and forwarding between the two programs. However if you have all your vectors on one work path then it's pretty handy.

    Thanks for the answers!

Here's another tip I picked up when looking about...

When using the Type tool if you want to scroll around the document, press the Option key then the Spacebar then release the Option key. Saves you leaving the type tool just to scroll the doc.
