    Does anyone agree with me that it is common courtesy for a business to reply to your e-mail regarding the availabilty of work?

    They should but few ever do. They just ignore unsolicited emails and get on with whatever they have to do.

    Yes, so long as the e-mail is not unsolicited (or spam, to give it its correct name)
