    Hello there!

I know some other folk have discussed Bellewstown here before, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me:

It looked like they were building a new clubhouse. Is this the case?? I didn't see a putting green last time I was there. Does anyone know what their plans are for the future? Will it turn into into a decent club with decent facilities?? Or stay as a decent standard yet basic Pay & Play facility??

    Thanks!!

    :):)

try emailing the club and see if they can tell you what the plans are. i'm sure they'd give you the lowdown, particularly if they thought they were going to get a member out of it.

    Spose.

    Might give them a call.

    Thanks.

Clubhouse is now built, but it is just a big log cabin type of thing with a bit of a shop, changing rooms, seating for tea coffee or whatever and a patio area out the front. There seems to be a practice green taking shape beside the first tee (at the moment its just a green with no hole on it). They also have a driving range area now.

Will you let us know any info that they give you in relation to improvements they are making etc

    Went into them yesterday.

They say that the putting green will be ready for next season. (Although it looks tiny!)

Planning a driving range with facility for computerized analysis. Also, plans for chipping green with practice bunker.

    Seems like a good deal!

    Seems like a good deal!

What is the deal for membership? I played this course for the first time about 2 years ago and absolutely hated it, specifically the climb up the 9th, 10th and 11th holes. However, after the blisters healed and I played it once or twice more I really came around to like the course and would consider joining it.

920 a year with no joining fee.

It's a bit of a hike, but most courses up these parts seem to have some element of hill walking involved!

If you are playing 18 holes it is really worth getting a buggy it takes shots off your game, saves your feet, and they're great craic..

I am sure that when the putting green it is finished it will be at least 4 times the size of the current one (which I would think is only a temporary thing)..

I like the course the only downside is when walking, the 9/10/11 are a b2stard on the legs and a couple of the holes on the back 9 seem quite similar. In general though it is a good course that isnt too busy, I tend to go off peak and have it to myself ( that way I dont have to shout fore as often or kill people on the 9 th when i tee off on the 1st )

Has anyone joined here lately? I was told that membership runs from Jan to Dec, but to join now I would still have to pay the full 920 euro for membership until Jan '08. That's 153 euro a month! Crazy!

    Anyone else had this??

They never told me that when I joined!.. I'm sure they'd have to have some sort of offer at this time of year otherwise nobody would join between now and Jan.

That's been my thinking too. It effectively means that it is only worth joining at the beginning of the year otherwise you are wasting your money!! Surely that can't be good way to do business!
