Folding AK? (low content)

Just wondering about the strength of this hand in a cash game and have an example from the other night that made me think Im playing it wrong.

Its the SE main game on Tuesday night and Im playing about €300 and the villain covers. He has been moaning since I got to the table about how hes been losing for the night. He showed me a big river bluff aginst me a few hands previously and this has me slightly steaming. He seems a decent player but would not be considered tight.

I make it 7 on the blind and there is two callers before the villain on the button makes it 25.

Folded to me and I raise to 75 with AKd.

Folded to the Villain who thinks for a bit then pushes. Should this be an easy fold?

I was at the table for this and was a bit taken aback by both holdings (i assumed one of you had AA and the other had minimum QQ)

personally I call the raise to 25 OOP and reassess on the flop, calling AIPF for 150BBs with AK in a cash game is generally not clever, even against a LAGtastic villain like that guy

i dont think its a fold. You now have considerable equity in the pot. Im never foldin it as his range is surely much wider than AA/KK.

BCB, AA/KK makes up the majority of his range in this spot

    btw, he insta-pushed

Against the player as described this is an insta-call. I certainly wouldn't put AA/KK as the majority of his range as described El Stuntman, but you were there so may know more.

He hardly instapushed? He looked back at his cards then thought for a bit and was like "OK then" and pushed. I didnt think about it for long enough but after the bluff he showed me previously I was happy to call. I thought his raise may of been a squeeze play and that maybe he knew I knew that and thought thats why I re raised. His range I thought was 88+ and AK with a very small possibility of AQs.

    Who was the villain?

Personally I dont like the reraise in this spot-infact I really really dont like it.
Im not folding here-his range certainly isnt aa kk ak qq-I think 77-jj are huge possibilites.I think the villain had 1010 or jj and with 75 in Im not folding.

AJ or 55 - NEVER AA KK as described imo - options are as follows:

    A) Tank it (and do whoop whoops)
    B) Call and c/r c/c if hit - c/f if miss (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
    C) Stop & go - dunno why but sounds good
    D) Fold and take up tiddlywinks (i hear there's a lot of $$$$$ in it)

god you are all so bad

    BoPz

    [edit lol]

Based purely on an odds calculation based on the possibilties of various hands in his range you probably have to call. However I don't know if I agree with your assessment of his range here. Maybe it's based on a good read of the player but in most cases when I see this kind of action it's QQ+.

I hate getting all my money in when I know that my best-case scenario is taking the worst of a coinflip. I would probably fold here without a very strong read on the player. If I was sure he was just steaming and overaggressive in general then I guess I'd have to call.

Didn't Doyle Brunson call AK the "walking back to Houston" hand based on people overplaying it?

I'm not folding - the blind raise disguises the strength of your hand. That he would "not be considered tight" would make it a definite call

I called and he had JJ and I missed.

No way I would fold. I would ship it and be happy about it.

What a read lol-pretty much 90% of the se popultion will write off 1010 jj as a cooler if they run into a hand-they cant get their tank in quick enough with jj-personally I rarely put in the third raise with ak here but once you have you have to ship it.Im trying to guess which sicko it was.............

sicko in the SE??? really?? hmmmm

your call was the correct one once you had already rr.... I don't think an SE reg is shipping it with AA here.... he'll call thinking he's clever.......

I'm afraid I'll have to take up the tiddlywinks .... I would seriously consider folding here. If it were purely odds alone, you would have to call but for 300 yo yo's I want to be sure I'm ahead most of the time..You seem to have a decent read on him and maybe even feel your a better player...Why not wait for a better spot and take his euros...

Any Tiddlywinks clubs in New ross...lol...great game you know....
