Does the first grading in Tae-Kwon Do for the yellow tip have a pattern?

I can't remember when I was younger whether it did or not and whether I had to do Chon-Ji for my yellow tip or was it for the yellow belt.

yeah, well it's not really a pattern, just punching and blocking in 4 directions

In ITF you do sagi jirugi and maybe sagi makgi. They're not classed as official patterns however.

you do those in RITA also, but I was just trying to remember if Chon-Ji didn't come into it until you go for the yellow belt. I always thought there was an official pattern for the yellow tip, but it seems not. Chon-Ji which seems to be the first official pattern on the ITF site is for the yellow tip

I think I'm getting Chon-Ji mixed up with SAJU JIRUGI and SAJU MAKGI

Yeh Chon Ji is the first pattern and you do it for yellow belt. Saju Makgi and Jirugi are classed as fundamental movements which you do for yellow stripe/tip.

Sagi Jirugi and Sagi Makgi are part of the 10th kup sylabus. Neither are considdered a pattern as there are 24 patterns (for the 24 hours in a day) and adding two more would ruin that. They are classified as fundamental movements in the encyclopedia.

Saju Jirugi is a coordination exercise.

    The yellow tip grading is..

    Stances: (Sogi)
    Attention stance (Charyot Sogi)
    Bow posture (Kyong Ye Jase)
Parallel ready stance (Narani Junbi Sogi)
    Sitting stance (Annun Sogi)
    Walking stance (Gunnun Sogi)

    Parts of the body:
    Forefist (Ap Joomuk)
    Outer forearm (Bakat Palmok)
    Inner forearm (An Palmok)

    Techniques:
Sitting stance middle punch *10 (Annun So Kaunde Jirugi)
Front rising kick both left and right *10 (Gunnun So Ap Cha Olligi)
    Press ups *10
Four directional punch left and right (Saju Jirugi)
Walking stance middle obverse punch (Gunnun So Kaunde Baro Jirugi)
Walking stance inner forearm middle block (Gunnun So An Palmok Kaunde Makgi)
Walking stance inner forearm middle block, reverse punch (Gunnun So An Palmok Kaunde Makgi Kaunde Bandae Jirugi)

I would have thought that the adding of Juche would have done that. There are 25 ITF patterns, not 24. The official line is just that KoDang doesn't count anymore.

Modern Taekwondo by Soon Man Lee and Gaetane Ricke is good for illustrating Taegeuk and Palgwe poomse recognised by Kukkiwon (WTF) for coloured belts. They also feature BB poomse Koryo and Keumgan. Yeon Hee Park, Yeon Hwan Park, and Jon Gerrard have also written a book, Tae Kwon Do, that only covers the Taegeuk poomse. Can't speak for ITF poomse or other bodies, having only trained in WTF.

adding juche they dropped ko dang, which upset me as it's quite a nice pattern and juche is a bit of a nod to the north koreans!!
