iPod facelift coming?

    Is the current 30GB iPod Video expected to be replaced/facelifted soon. I remember Apple gave them a facelift every year or so but they haven't in a while. I'm planning on buying one in the next few weeks an I don't want to find after a few weeks that I have an old model:o

    Could well happen, but no one knows, right now apple are focused on leopard and the iphone, but it would surprise me if they didn't tweak the ipod for christmas.

    Personally I wouldn't wait, I'd just buy a killer warranty with it, and if a newer one comes out have an accident where the warranty would get you a new one.

    They will give you old stock! You will never get a new one out of this. I have had a few ipods replaced(the really old ones), and they never could replace it for me with the new model. In fact they even made me an old one after they had been discontinued. For what reason I don't know..

    Get it with Dixon's/Curry's, afaik they give you what are essentially gift vouchers to the value of the product.

    I've only done this on two occasions and I have never been given old stock, On one of the occasions there was a genuine error and I was allowed to switch the device for a different one completely. Unless the store you buy from is one of the main branches (ie a headquarters) in Ireland, old stock will not be kept, it will either be sold off, or failing that sent back to the warehouse.

    Ok I'm talking about if you order from apply themselves. Dixons did give me vouchers for when mine could not be repaired also on another occaisson but thats only because they couldn't get a replacement model or fix it.

    you really should have mentioned that. could have saved a whole load of time :D No biggy, if you order from apple, yeah you're damn right they won't give you a new one
