Have a looksee at the TCD careers website, they have a section on 'what TCD graduates do after they finish'.

Linkee for Human Genetics 2004 (2005 has no details): http://www.tcd.ie/Careers/resources/publications/page.php?isPostGraduate=0&year=2004&facultyID=279&courseID=833&go=Go%21

Talk to the folks in charge by email or whatever. They won't bite and will be able to set things out clearly. I'm sure their details are on the college website. Regarding your second question: Develop ten foot tall human fighting machines to counteract the machines.

hullo! just finished JF Human Genetics, pretty much the exact same as science apart from the extra random tutorial each week... and when i say random, i mean random - no set course, no exam, jsut a discussion of whatever topipc hops into a professors head. one class, we spent the whole 50 minutes debating whether or not insurance companies should be permitted to demand genetic tests as one of the grounds for calculating premium...
like you said, course outline does look 'sexy' and i'm sure twill improve in later years.

as regards job prospects, er...... research it appears for the most part! ye have the likes of banking and all but mainly: biotechnology, genetic counselling (a biggie now apparently), genetic screening etc etc.

hope this splurge of words helps a bit... work make colm tired...

P.S. sexy isn't a reason to choose a course. You should have a look at your reasons for wanting to do a course. I work with expensive stuff, money is sexy but I can understand how somebody might not like doing this!

guys, thanks, this is really helpful.

i love the course and the whole sciency thing, but its the not knowing what exactly they did that i didnt like.

so i gather, there is a lot of stuff to do.

but do u know, is this actually related to genetic screeing/counselling, or is that only doctors? or do u need to do further study until u get there? TY!
