Hi, I know that universal remotes would work, though I've had some in the past and they just don't seem to work.. Do big brands like Panasonic and Sony try to block them? It's kinda frustrating, the sony remote for my tv is bust aswell.. it works but some of the buttons dont react well anymore or at all.

The main reason I want a remote, is not because I'm lazy, its just I cant figure out how to set it to record a show at specific times. I'd be curious about some kind of tivo like thing, so i could record a show onto a harddrive or something to view back later, as over writing video tapes gets bad.

why dont you try and go to a sony centre and see if they have a remote for it. ebay might even have one. i ave a sony dvd player and a sony tv. the remote for the tv works on the dvd player. even if you could get a tv one it should work

Get yourself one of these, they are brilliant!

They do a cheaper one but I have never used it!
