It's probably more to do with the fact that they are bringing out a New OS amd want to sell more OS 10.4s.

They have been doing that in the UK and US for a long time. I doubt its due to the new OS... just following on here I reckon.

I'm looking forward to the new ipods. Touch-screen maybe? :D

    Unlikely though.

they always do this. Got myself a MacBook last year and at the time they brought out the new nanos. Unfortunately you could only get a 1st gen nano and they then brought out Core2Duo MacBooks before Christmas. Took feckin ages to get my rebate back - more like 6 months than 6 weeks.
Seems to be a way for them to get rid of old stock then they bring something new out. Also got a free printer which I sold along with the new nano to offset the cost of the MB. Good deal if you really need a Mac at the time but I'd wait for Leopard.

exactly. its only €129, i'd rather have the use of my macbook until october and then buy the upgrade than waiting until october for the macbook.

Yes, but maybe they might bring out a higher spec macbook for the leopard release?

i dont doubt that they will.

but, you still have to wait until october. i'd rather have the use of the macbook until then. there's ALWAYS an update "soon".

whatever you want yourself though, i know i'd rather have the use of the notebook until then.

I agree with moe! I wouldnt let mere speculations and 'maybes' put me off buying now! Like he said, there is always an update around the corner ;)

They won't but it'll probably be on the horizon at that stage so you'll end up waiting for another few months.

You should base your upgrades around the hardware not the software. Now is the best time to get a macbook. Waiting for Leopard is silly. There's people who have been waiting for it since February thinking it would be out in May, they're still waiting.

    very true

i bought my macbook in january. i considered waiting until leopard (may-ish!!) but obviously decided against! im glad i bought when i did, because i've had the use of it since then and when leopard is released im going to upgrade to it.

i might even sell the macbook and go for a macbook pro at that stage..

anyway, getting off topic... so....... yeah....... free ipod......
