    Hi folks,

30 yr old bloke just out of a band relationship!!i wont mention who/where or when, but im interested in tryin to get involved with some electronic type music (think Thom Yorke eraser,TV on the radio), while not ripping him off,i like the idea of maybe guitar and keys, and then programme the rest.i can play basic keys too,and i sing.and id be interested in trying out different ways in playing it live. the wheel wouldnt have to be invented, just something a bit interesting would be cool...
id listen to stuff like built to spill to the super furrys, to TV on the Radio, to massive attack,to rock or folk, or whatever really,...
id fire ahead myself, only i need to get pc and ****e sorted, but if there are any keyboard players/samplers/techy musos at a loose end, drop me a mail sometime.....

    baz

hey, sounds exactly like what I'm trying to do. If you need a singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboard player let me know.

Ive been using reason/sonar for beats and backing tracks via a laptop through a p.a., would be a lot better with some other musicians instead though.

Try advertising around UL. They have a Music Technology masters course there that really puts the mental in experimental - probably the best place in Limerick to look for technically minded musicians.

Nice to see you're heading this direction - Ableton is your friend :)

How's that Akai SG01v going btw, or have you sold it on?

The akai is going grand, I recorded a few bits and bobs with it, and haven't gone through half of what's on it. Im using a casio keyboard with it, but can't seem to access the drum banks, though that's a problem between me and the manual I'd say!! unless those casios only let you use 2 banks, can't select the drum banks on the akai, I'll get a proper midi keyboard one of the days anyways, and take it from there...

Try fiddling around with what midi channel you're broadcasting on with the Casio, should fix it.

6 steps to mastering electronic music

Step 1: Get frooty loops/reason/pro tools
Step 2: Create random bass line in a key, keep randomizing untill some bits that sound good, cut it out and repeat it.
Step 3: Download an amen break at the right tempo, repeat it through out song except for bridge
Step 4: Download samples, change the gain, speed and tempo (and other effects) untill they sound original, insert randomly
Step 5: Adopt a name tantalisingly similar to aphex twin. Wear a mask live and hide your laptop/ipod behind a complex looking but vestigal array of electronics. Fiddle with electronics in time with music
    Step 6: Profit

If only it was this easy :D
