I am going to purchase a classic Bettle but i am unsure of the amount of upkeep these classic cars need. if anyone has any input at all that would be great. The one i am looking at is a 1974 1200cc with some small rust patches. It looks really cool but will i have my heart broken trying to get rid of rust etc etc????

    Thanks...

my father used to restore beetles..

Look at the floor pan in the rear seats and in front of the seats in the back. Also the door pillars rot at the upper and lower area's. All the wings are replaceable with the removal of a few bolts so don't be too worried about them.

Up keep is all relevant to how much you'll use it.. and how far you want to go in repairing / restoring it. Once its safe.. and road worthy i would'nt get too caught up in the odd spot of rust..

brillant lads thanks very much. I feel much happier now about buying the Beetle.. I have been looking around for Insurance and i can seem to get classic insurance unless i have another car. 1500 is the best quote i can get and that's from Hibernan. This is my first car in general so i have to take al that into consideration i suppose. Does any of you know where i can get something a bit more reasonable.. ????

Also checked out that Forum looks pretty cool.. thanks a lot..
