I took a monkey work part time job just to be able to go to and from work without much thought or responsibilty so I've ignored the problems for a long time but after several months now I can't stomach working there any longer because the systems there are crap. Its make it so hard to do the job and to speak to customer with straight face and Im left as speechless as they are when I can't deliever what they need. I no good at fobbing people off.

I've talked to one of my supervisors who simply says it been like that for years, he just says its far from perfect but thats it, it not just imperfect its farcical. I tried doing my part to remedy the problem but its not encouraged and is beyond my reach, time and position. Most of the people there are nice and I don't mind the monotenous element of the job but its just embarrasing and sometimes now in work im at my wits end.

Everybody I started with has left anyway, I'd love to quit but I don't know of any other job to go to and sure I'll probably find similar problems in other jobs.

I'm in the same boat mate. I've an IT degree and I took at job at the time nearly 2 years ago in a ****ty credit control position just for the "time being" at the time and now I hate it and can't get out of it. I've no IT experience so when I go to interviews they always ask...So why are you in credit control?

I reckon I'm going to have to do some IT revision courses and go in as a graduate, but I've made my mind that I'm off travelling in January so I may as well just stick it til then....it's killing me though.

    What do you do?

    Welcome to the grindstone.

I'd like to tell you that most employers are great to work for but in my experience they're not. It can be easy to slip into a victim mentality when you feel you are the only one who cares. I was in that position a couple of years back and almost burnt myself out trying to get things done.

The only thing that it is in your power to do is to be as diligent as you can be in the circumstances and try to help your customers to the extent that you are able.

Alternatively if you are truly browbeaten like me you could just decide to say f**k it, join the rat race and struggle through until you collect your paycheck at the end of the month.

The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that I'm going to school at night studying to be a counsellor. Thats my way out of the corporate rat race :D

You'll get out of there alright, it may take time but you'll get out of there. Get your CV out there and start putting your energy into finding a new job rather than banging your head against a brick wall where you are....

    Good luck mate.

OP, if you're registered, maybe get a mod to move this to Work & Jobs. You'll get good advice here, but probably even better advice there.

well I don't want to post myself out of job so I don't want to go into to much detail of the type of work

I literally don't know _how_ to do the job anymore...

if it's the only job your qualified to do then I suggest you do a night class and retrain as something else.
Use the job to fund yourself, then at least you will feel you are working towards something better.
