I got a SanDisk 4GB SDHC from www.7dayshop.com two weeks ago. It was the same price as the 2GB SD card. You need to make sure your camera is compatible though.

They can be worth it for the extra space, especially if you want to go over 4gb. Although for the highier capacity ones speed may be an issue. They're rated by class, 2, 4 and 6. The number represents the minimum sustained transfer rate. I got a 4gb Class 6 awhile ago and I can't see any difference in speed compaired to my 2gb 150x card. I've no idea how the 8gb class 2's preform but I hopefully will soon :)

It might go for either a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 or Samsung S1050, ill make sure it is compatable. I was thinkin of gettin the 4gb sdhc instead of the 2gb sd. I don't think i would really need that much space but i would be nice to have it. Do you think there is really much speed difference? enough to make the sdhc worth it?

I doubt you'd even notice a speed difference, unless you are into measuring such things. You might be better off going with 2 GB cards instead of 1 4GB in case you end up losing your card or it getting corrupted etc. I think that's what the majority of people would do

Hmmm... I was under the impression the only real difference between the types is that SDHC used a high capacity filesystem (FAT32 or similar) to enable greater than 32-bit capacities. Cameras would have to have firmware capable of reading/writing this format as it's different to the normal FAT16 format which is almost universally used, although backwards compatible so that anything which can read FAT32 should be able to read FAT16. Any speed increases noticed would only be due to improvements in the efficiency of the newer file system, assuming the storage technology is the same.

interesting, but i think there are advertised as being faster i wonder if it is true or noticeable?

Unless they're talking about the file system itself (hard drives are faster if they're formatted with FAT32 than if they're formatted with FAT16)... It's also possible they're simply using faster memory - being a "top of the range" card this could well be the case.
