Wine access to windows drive

Hi all, Is it safe to allow wine to have access to my windows drive. Currently I have my windows ntfs mounted read only and it's causing some problems running exe's under wine (understandably so if it needs to write to registry etc.). Hi all,

Is it safe to allow wine to have access to my windows drive. I think wine maintains it's own registry etc. so trying to use programs that have been installed natively through windows may lead to problems as the necessary registry entries wont be available.
