For the first time ever I have lost signal on both boxes tonight, I hope it is the heavy rain. Anyone else lost signal?

I thought you should be able to play recordings but neither my planner or anytime programs will play without the sat signal.

Mine's back now, even thought it's still raining heavily, guess the worst is over.

My automatic weather station recorded a rain rate of 110.7mm/hr during the thunder and lightning here outside arklow this evening.

Yes the sky signal went but so did the power.
Alls back now and the rain has cleared.
Rain falling at the equivalent of 4 1/2 inches and hour is very very rare.

Unfortunately the rain is showing up deficiencies in your dish alignment or cabling but it should not happen too often hopefully. If dishes are installed correctly and have no shifted as a result of a storm etc. then the should have sufficient margin to maintain reception in heavy rain.

Mines a 90cm dish Tony with usually 3/4 or more sig strength and quality.

A rain rate of 4 1/2 inches an hour is monsoonal and very rare.

Mine went for about 2 minutes. Picture starting breaking up and then the no signal message. It was when the rain was at it's heaviest.

I agree very rare but a 90cm dish should have worked still, I was referring more to the 60cm set ups

non-2d much weaker in West & North than Dublin Tony. Also we get up to 6 x the Dublin rainfall.

A 90cm dish is more suseptible to slight misalignment than 65cm Sky mini dish. Certainly there are channels like Movies24 that are easliy lost in rain here, hence my constant tirade about people buying the camper sat sized dishes that may be perfect in Dublin/Wexford :)

I once ever had over 1" rain in 1/2 hour. There was 5 mins when even the strongest signal on the 110cm dish was gone. At that point the street lights had been on (this was midday) and it was nearly dark. Water was even bubbling up in cracks on the shed concrete floor. We were more concerned about flooding than TV and we are on a slope on a hill

I find a plastic bottle taped over the LNB helps with heavy rain problems,Eurobird channels,BBC seem to go first for obvious reasons?
At times like these I am glad I mounted the dish on the ground, easy and safe to work with.As Sky + has two unused LNB outputs,a second old sky box can be connected and used through the day to feed radio all over the house via wireless speakers,The hard drive gets a rest and less current used.

I was beginning to think my setup had been slightly misaligned by storms in the past months as this was the first time signal strength dropped too low to work. All was fine after a few minutes.
