    Hi

So i have my iPod pretty much full now at this stage but the computer that all the songs were originally put onto is no longer workign so I have a new one.

The problem now is that I want to be able to put the iPod songs onto my new version of iTunes on the new computer.

Any ideas what software I could/should get to do this?

    Thanks

not entirely sure, ur best bet is to google it, i think if you connect up your ipod to the new computer and open itunes you can copy the music from the ipod to the computer by dragging it up to music but i'm not sure. Happy googling! :)

You need to enable disk mode on your iPod, and have it show up as a Hard Drive. Go into the hidden folders there, and you'll find all your Music, but with weird names. Copy all of that onto your Hard Drive, then go into iTunes, into your Preferences, set iTunes to 'organise my music folder'. Then go to the File menu, and import the entire folder. iTunes will use the ID3 Tags to rename the folders properly, and you're done.

For tunes with DRM attached, you'll need to provide your iTunes account username and password to enable playing of these tracks.

Do you have access to the old hard drive with the old itunes? I have not checked to see if this is true but i heard before that if you plug an ipod into a new itunes setup i syncs with it and if the same songs are not there it will delete them from the ipod. So be careful, this might not be the case though.

edit: what Ned said makes sense so do that. Do not just sync up with new itunes.

Only if you have the iPod setup to automatically synch with iTunes.

READ THE FAQ. Use one of the alternatives to iTunes.

Had a bit of a problem with my PC. Hard drive stopped working so I've lost a lot of stuff with very little backup for it. I have lost all my mp3s which is a pain. I can recover a lot of them if I copy them from my ipod back to my PC. I was thinking of using http://www.ephpod.com/download.shtml to do this. Does anyone know much about this program? Friend of mine used something similar a while ago but it renamed all the filenames of his mp3s to copy them and I don't want to do this. Is there a better program I can use? Thanks for any help.
