Apple tech support

Does anyone here work for Apple tech support in Cork?

They're hiring tech support people for the English line at the moment. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of shifts are rostered (e.g. how many weekends are you expected to work in a week) and how long training is.

None of this info is on the job description and HR are next to impossible to get through to.

I've worked for apple before in aftersales and they're not a bad company to work for at all. I just want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into before I go applying for this.

    Thanks

(Mods feel free to move but I doub't i'd get much of a response in work & jobs)

I've rang Apple Support once and when I rang the number I got through to some friendly chap in India.

I thought Apple Support was in India but Sales are in Cork. Am I wrong?

Sounds like its as bad as it was when I worked up there 2 years ago.
Last minute shift changes, mails notifying people of a different start time when they are away on holidays etc. Wasn't a good place to work when I left 2 years ago - they tried to implement some really stupid changes, the worst of which was that you had to finish your last call, even if was gone past 8pm. So if one of the calls came through from the Indian call centre at 19.55 you had to stay with it until 20.45 or whatever. We had murders up there over it, but it may have been changed since. No decent grub on bank holidays as the canteen only catered for production. Nice discount on new macs though......:)

I worked in Aftersales for a while, also worked in production for a while. Aftersales is a v nice place to work, and they prpbably have the new callcentre ready now as well, wasnt there for its opening, but iI heard its really nice working environment. As for aftersales, there were talks of introducing 8am-6pm as the opening hours, not sure whether this applies to tech support or not.
I'd go for it if I were you, great place to work for many reasons; money, call centre women  :D;) , apple discount, and you get to work with a lot of interesting people.
@ Whiterebel, I got hit by the 19:55 callers once or twice as well, but it doesnt happen that often, I used try to fob them off, used work every time

I finally got through to HR the other day. The opening hours are similar to aftersales and you have to work 1 in 4 saturdays. Now the HR lady said she wasn't 100% sure about these hours (of course you're sure, you're the f**king HR manager - she just doesn't want to be quoted on any of this).

Thing is, the training isn't starting till august! I asked her why they were putting up the add so early and she gave me some bullsh*t answer - I'm just glad the job actually exists.

I worked in aftersales last year too. I thought it was fine. as callcentres go its definately the best one to work for in Cork.

I got an interview for that tech support job next Tuesday, but...

...I also have an interview for aftersales this thursday.

Now I'd much rather have the tech support job but I'm going to do the aftersales interview anyway (aftersales would do me fine but the contract only lasts till xmas). To the best of my knowledge, the recruitment for tech support and aftersales are handeled by 2 different people so hopefully they won't know I'm going for both.

Now all I have to figure out it how the f**k I'm going to pass the drug test.

Anyone want to volenteer an unadulterated sample of urine?

Never worry about that. If you impress the interviewers, it's likely you'll get offered both jobs; then you can pick whichever one has nicer benefits ;)

All you can deduce from my profile and my postings is that I live in Cork and like beer. That narrows it down to about 200,000 people!
