Can I record with DVD recorder of the cable channels?

Hi guys

Sorry I don't really know if this is the right place for this question. I have the NTL through cable, the basic one with Film4 etc (extra fiver a month). Can i record programs off Film4, More4, etc, with my dvd recorder? My dvd recorder sintonizes (sp?) ok all the channels off my tv (ch4, comedy, living, BBC, etc) but doesn't get the other ones like Film4 etc, and seems to only record off the channels that can sintonize and not off what I am whatching on tv. Furthermore, if I swith on the dvd recorder I loose the signal off the ntl extra programs (like Film4) so I have to switch dvd recorder off to watch the cable. Have I connected them wrong, maybe? There was no instructions in the box for conection so I just guessed.

How do you have the connections set up? You don't mention whether you have Analogue or Digital or both.

Are you able to tune in different channels into the DVD recorder like a normal VCR or only SCART input/output?

Is the NTL cable connected to the DVD recorder first or to the TV?

My set up is NTL Cable plugged into DVD/Video (Aerial In), then TV out to the Aerial In of TV. I can record one channel and watch another this way

Hi, I have NTL digital and a dvd recorder, i can record off the digital by setting the record time on the dvd and setting the tv to reminders.

So on my digital i set it to turn on i.e. desperate housewives at 10 and auto tune to it then the dvd recorder kicks in at 10. I dont loose any channels by using the recorder but i can only watch what im recording unless i go into the other room.

As for as i can remember theres a scart going to ntl the to recorder then to tv - but this to me ages to get this working

If all leads are setup correctly it should look like this....(sorry about the size but at least it's readable)
The main connections needed on your DVD recorder will be the same as pictured on the vcr.
