Can anyone help me to find a firewire 800 hub that will allow me to connect a minimum of four external hard drives to a mac.

the only one ive found is in the US (Nitro AV) but its $155 and another $60 to ship.

its a bit more than i was willing to pay

the only ones i can find in Ireland / UK are 3 port which is only two devices and the computer.

    any ideas ?

Do the external drives not have an extra firewire port for daisy changing them ?

Lindy.ie have firewire 800 hubs you can daisy chain together to get the 4 ports you need.

Or have you considered eSATA would be much faster and controllers are a lot easier to get even OSX compatible ones.

i currently have three external hard drives (all the same model but 2 are 250Gb and 1 is 500Gb) and they are currently chained using the FW800 connection.

However, recently the mac doesnt always see all the drives and thought of tryng a hub instead to see if that makes any difference.

    I might get a FW400 before splashing out on a FW800
