    Hi all,

We will be tying the knot next year, around August/September.

We are looking for a country venue that would hold between 100 to 160 guests in the Tipp/Waterford/Kilkenny region.

We have an average budget but would be willing to spend that little extra for something special.

The main thing we are looking for is the country setting that has nice grounds/scenery/service/meal etc.

Has anyone any suggestions or personal experiences that would suit this general area.

    Thanks in advance for replies.

    Slimbo

Have a look at the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny. Don't know whats it like for a wedding but I loved my stay there. Conference centre could possibly be too big for a wedding your size though.

Oh I highly recommend the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny. 5 Star Hotel. Absolutely gorgeous, very friendly staff. My sister had her wedding there (she had more then your amount of people coming I think) and she (as did we) loved it!

Wouldn't recommend them for a weeding - its very old fashioned, nothing like the newer hotels.

We viewed Coolbawn quay just outside Nenagh, fab location, marquee beside lake, private bar on site. Fell in love with it immediately but when we did the sums it was working out a little too expensive, they charge near 4k for marquee hire alone, but if you had the cash I think it would be amazing as a l ocationm esp if you got good weather! Best of luck

    Thank you for the replies.

We have viewed the Lyrath but don't like the idea of going into a beautiful holtel then being whisked away to the conference center for the wedding reception.
Itr doesn't seem to be part of the feel of the class that Lyrath omits.

Has anyone got anything good feedback in relation to Faithlegg in Watreford.

we also viewed that and the only thing that appeared to be wrong was the actual size of the reception room.......very cramped.

    Anyone agree or disagree?

Only one answer to your query:

    The Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford.

    Now everyone can go home.

    Hi Slimbo,

I'm in the same situation as yourself..........looking for a a wedding venue in the Kilkenny area or commutable distance with a country house / old world charm / manor house.

Wondering if you have had any luck?

    Hi,

I agree with the Ferrycarrig in Co.Wexford - absolutely gorgeous hotel, with unbelievable views.

I was at a wedding just down the road from it recently in Slaney Manor, it was a lovely venue.... they've a courtyard, and a manor house, and a castle style building they've build on the grounds... it was gorgeous...

They don't do the catering themselves, they have an arrangement with local caterers from the Talbot Hotel - but the food was nice, and the staff very efficient.

I got married in Kilkenny last year & had the reception in Hotel Kilkenny. They couldn't have been more accommodating & everything was looked after to perfection. They are great to deal with and are fairly flexible on price if you're willing to negotiate.

I've been to plenty weddings in the Kilkenny area and personal bias aside, Hotel KK is hard to beat..
