i know its not ideal but i used 3 in 1 oil on the cloth on my cleaning rod to clean the barrrell last nite and i was if there would be any problems or damage done to my barrell?

tested it today and the first mag i put it got a realy bad grouping with rounds going everywhere but after that it seemed to settle down

It depends what is in the oil. Some oils corrode plastics. Which would obviously be bad for your hop up. Best thing to do is to look on the side of the can and check it's contents.

the ony reference to contents on the bottle is"contains petroleum distillates"which dosent sound the best:(

oiling the barrel generally causes the first few hundred shots to be all over the place anyway, so wouldnt be too worried about that, just run a couple of mags through it

the 3-in-1 would probably be bad for the hopup though, i'd recommend taking it out and giving it a good clean, then re-clean the entire barrel with silicone oil

right then il give that a try and see what happens, dont have any silicone tho but il jus clean the barrell with a dry peice of cloth or something

petroleum distillates are what erode plastic. You never ever want to use anything which is petroleum based.

Hey adrian, try it with a ffresh pice of cloth to get as much reidue off as posible and run a few 100 rnds through it as said. The longer the petrol is on it the more damage done. You may need a new bucking(like me after ripping mine the other day!).

lubricating the hopup will throw it way out of whack as the hopup rubber cant grip and apply spin to the bb

not to mention the possiblity of corrosion of plastics/rubbers as mentioned ;)

Petroleum distilates are evil, believe me when i say your hop up doesnt like them ;)
