What experience & qualifications do you have?

IMO Desktop Support roles are not as easy to come by at the moment as some people will have you believe. It also doesn't help when recruiters constantly advertise roles as 'Desktop Support' but in actual fact, they are basically pure 'Helpdesk' roles with little or no hands-on.

Check sites like http://www.computerjobs.ie and try applying directly to companies (it cuts out all the b.s. that comes with dealing with recruiters).

You can also try www.elanit.ie and http://www.eolas.ie. Those kind of jobs shouldn't be too hard to come by. Or take a job with a company you like and try to get moved internally to the internal helpdesk.

    I'm glad I could help ;)

That is one of the best sites for IT jobs, just steer clear of the useless CV farming recruiters on there and you should find something decent enough.

computerjobs.ie has some major chancers on there though if you select 'by employer'.
Some of the salaries are laughable for the job requirements

Very true, but that is the IT industry in Ireland for you. In most cases employers expect candidates to walk on water for them yet they are always hesitant when it comes to paying them what they are really worth.
