Have been using a 1G card since I got my PSP, just back from Beijing with a 4G card, is it possible to transfer the music, game progress etc that I have saved on my old card to my new card?

well the esiest way is to copy onto your PC from the old card. Put the new card into the PSP and copy the content onto it from the PC

    Lovely....

Stupid question part 2, do I need PSP software or does it come up as a device through the USB?

It automatically comes up on the PC (with windows XP at least) same as any removable storage device, when you connect it with the USB cable and turn on "USB Mode"
