I have it and find it very satisfactory. There's a thread about it here:

The rate of 10c per minute for calls to the UK is far too high.
However, you could try the following-

Register your credit card with Call 13434.
    See-
    http://www.13434.ie/index2.php
I've been with them for a few months now and they offer truly exceptional value in international calls plus a reliable service. You can stay with your present telephone company (land or mobile) and yet avail of the cheapest international rates around.

In my case, for example, I am currently with Perlico, but use the Call13434 service for all my foreign calls. I dial 1800 820 820 , wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number.

Now I am happy with Perlico (better than Eircom), but the current NTL offer is VERY tempting.

The Call 13434 site seems to suggest that it is possible to use Call 13434 in conjunction with NTL too. I wonder if anyone can confirm this?
I asked NTL if they accept 1800 numbers as "free" calls and they said they do, so I imagine that means you can use Call 13434 from an NTL landline.
    Can you confirm???

If I can use Call 13434 with NTL, that's the ideal combination, availing of both NTL's low line-rental and Call 13434's foreign rates.

Using the Call 13434 service to call the UK, they only charge 5c flat rate plus 0 (ZERO) cent per minute.
So a one hour call to the UK that would cost 6 euro with NTL, would only cost 5 cent by using the Call 13434 package.

Can one combine NTL and Call 13434?
    I think you can....

that's actually quite expensive, blueface is 1.6 cent to UK, 1.4 cen to the states and about the same to most western europe countries.

Blueface is a loss making 3rd party VOIP on Internet company with no QOS.

NTL phone while in a technical sense VOIP, does not use the real Internet (the call only goes on their internal network to their interconnected PSTN gateway) and is a special QOS managed system on the cable part that is not affected by other traffic.

When NTL phone is setup properly it should be indistingusable from a good eircom line, while Blueface can easily be poorer than GSM.

Also it is secure and and can't be VOIP spammed, access is only via the phone number. Blueface is is totally open to be sniffed and your IP can be VOIP spammed bybassing your number, or if a setting is wrong someone can use your Blueface account to make calls. That's impossible on NTL.

It's easy to be cheap when you have no infractructure and run at a loss. However it's not a recipe for a good phone service.

Yes I know lots of people find Blueface meets their needs.

Digiweb's Metro is a similar concept of phone service giving higher quality than plain Internet VOIP, allowing ordinary phone, fax, modem and Sky boxes to be connected without any physical phone line from eircom.
