not one to bask in the glory of our triumphant defeat of the royals but i did all tell u we wud win by 4. filled my boots-up the dubs.

as i posted earlier in the wk,dublin needed that game big time and so it proved.meath are miles away and unfortunately they are the only ones that dont realise that.

    vaughan motm by a mile.

there were posters here (from dublin as well i might add) who doubted vaughan.

they called him a hothead and a liability. these are typical of your fairweather supporters.
delighted for the young fella and f*ck the begrudgers.

    dubs all the way.

ps-casey and collie cant start next day.

I took it under advisement and had a very good feeling we'd win.Disagree that we should have won by 4.We should have had the game wrapped up in the first 20 mins with two goal opportunities missed and two point opps hitting the posts.

I was the first person here on Boards to criticize Dublin management about their treatment of Vaughn.Other members will know that I felt strongly about his potential and his treatment in a time when he was ridiculed by Dubs who wrongfully blamed him.He has talent and is not a liability in the slightest. It takes this young man some time to get settled into a match and then there is no stopping him.Take the match against Mayo,he wasn't given enough opportunity and time to prove his worth and contribute and the weight was dumped on his shoulders.

What we saw today was Vaughn doing himself justice and being given his rightful place in the Dublin lineup.

Well done Vaughn,he certainly earned his stripes today.Every other county should worry about this up and coming player.Today was 9-12 months in the making for Vaughn.I'm delighted for him and Dublin.

A good win, however keep in mind that Meath struggled big time to get a draw against a 14 man Cavan team (for 60 mins at least) this year. Neither Cavan or Meath are going to be even close to contending for Sam this year. So just keep the heads on, and don't be blowing the players up just yet. There are much tougher tests out there.

Of course there are alot tougher challenges out there but it was bad the way Vaughan was almost made out as a hopeless talent after last years Semi Final. He is a player with potential i think once he is given a proper chance. While obviously nobodys touting him as an All Star, he has at least proven that he can play football very well given the chance and that he isnt a wasted place.

If he performs like that for rest of summer I think those people can eat their words, wouldn't get too excited over one good game though. He has undoubted talent, that point from over at the touchline line was fantastic, but we've all seen him lose the head for Crokes/Dubs so thats where doubt comes from i suppose.

Dubs should walk leinster now, if they avoid ulster opposition in QF fancy them to reach semis, whether they can win there (probably kerry), well its too early to tell.

    Outrageous comment.

Casey was marking meaths best player, who is lightning quick and deadly accurate, and roasted Griffen in the drawn game. He wasnt up to his usual high standards but calling for him to be dropped after 1 below par game is ridiculous.

As for Collie, go watch the game again. He worked his socks off, fought for every breaking ball (instrumental in dublin winning possession in many of them)
He was back helping out the defence when needed and is by far our best passer of the ball.
He gave 1 bad pass to whelo and missed the goal chance (which wasnt easy).
Its about time people started giving him credit for what is a thankless job and stopped getting on his back.

On a sidenote, I had €40 on Dublin to win by 4-6points :D
probably go for the same bet this sunday, with Keaney for 1st goalscorer at about 9/1

Lets hope Vaughan can put in the same performance this week.
God help the opposition when Dublin have Brogan/Keaney/VAughan/Jayo all firing on full cylinders.

    BLUE ARMY! :D

your prob a boden man if u think collie should be starting in half forward line. its plain to see he is not a forward with that woeful miss in 1st few mins.

all his best football in that game was played at half back in 2nd half. pillar moved him back to leave cullen free and imo it worked. which begs the question why is collie half forward??

as for casey, too slow, too one dimensional and too ordinary end of story. im very worried about him. pillar loves him big time-only player with clucko to start all champo games. i think it will be too late before hes found out.
he was miles off bray last sun (at least 10yrds each time).
would he get away with it if playing big team. defo no.

as for sun we cant be too complacent. they were well in it last yr until mcnamee got the line.

in saying that if we have any aspirations this year we have to account for them with something to spare.

going for 7-9 and prob stick with keaney for value.

good luck sunday and keep the faith. up the dubs

It has been said that the turning point was when McNamee got his marching orders in last years Leinster Final but from where I was sitting in the Lower Hogan,Dublin were turning the screw before that.

I think it will be a closer match this time around.Ciaran McManus is availbale for Offaly this time and he can sure score goals from far out like bullets from a shot gun.Cluxton better be on form like he was against Meath.Still I think we will win with 6 or 7 points to spare.

I've been thinking about the Leinster Final which looks likely to be Dublin and Laois and I am looking at the opposition both teams are playing.Dublin have had two tight matches with neighbouring enemies Meath who will turn up the style for the derby.Dublins league performance was indifferent but we did have the best counties there Donegal,Kerry,Mayo,Tyrone.

Laois have played one match against a Longford outfit that should have trounced them.19 wides and a disallowed goal is a let off for Laois who were not the better team on that day.Laois performance in the league was awful considering the opposition.Westmeath beat them and Laois drew with Kildare who are no great shakes.

The semi finals will be crucial,If it is to be a Laois-Dublin final, the opposition in the semis could be the key.Offaly are a better championship outfit compared to the league while Wexford have shown some promise.Offaly defeated Wexford last year but you have to take into account Mattie Forde who got sent off.Previous to last year,Wexford had been a thorn in Offaly side in both codes.2004 saw Wexford knock Offaly out of both football and hurling.

Between the two hot favourites to make the Leinster Final, you have to say that on averages,Dublin are better prepared. However,if Wexford use the tactic of getting frees in front of goal and looking for Colfer and Forde as well,I think Wexford could pull off a shocker.
