XviD = DivX, XviD is an open source implementation of the MPEG-4 ASP standard whereas DivX is a commercial implementation.

Last I heard the DivX web plugin works as long as you only install the web player & not the DivX codec itself.

    3ivX
is another commercial implementation I think it plugs into WMP in a more integrated manner than DivX as it plays back QuickTime mov files in WMP as well but I have not tried the latest version.

Ah right, never actually new that. Thought they were different because all the Xvid avi's wouldn't play on the Divx player.

Okay well I tried the Divx player from a fresh install of XP on one of the laptops and it works fine. Guess Ill have to do a bit of uninstalling on the other machines to get it working.

    Thanks man!
