    I am a 40yo male,

I was replying to a post on my bebo for my 17yo niece, when I got a PM on skype from a female stranger, turns out she was mad for it and we had a great chat.

I forgot about the bebo until the next day when i hear that i had posted an x-rated comment on the bebo, i was alt tabing between the chat and a few other windows and must have messed up, ( i look at the keyboard when i type ), anyway all the extende family now know and i am mortified, and thinking of leaving the country,

    will this blow over?

lol - don't know if this is made up, or you trying to get excuses for doing something dodgy - but it is very funny.

on the off chance that it is actually true - all you can do is explain the situation to your family

how do you misunderstand typing an x-rated comment on bebo? im sorry but that really does sound like far fetched, if your that kinda guy youve got a bad rep coming. But im sorry if its genuine

possible excuse could be that someone knows your bebo and was having a laugh using your account. then convince a very good pal to take the blame.

I think he's saying he thought he was typing the x-rated comment in a private message window (or whatever the bebo equivalent is), but it was actually posted on her public comments page.

Do you mean you were replying TO your 17 year old niece on bebo and you ended up putting one of your sexy comments intended for skype into bebo instead?

Sorry but your command of the English language is poor in that post and makes the original post seem far more unbelievable. Taking it as read.

No such thing, apart from "Mail", which no one uses because there's so much spam and chain mail on it

    funny stuff lol
anyway i sometimes accidently click on the wrong profile and type a message intended to someone else its not uncommon .
And unless you intended to perv on your neice tell your sister/brother it was meant for another profile and you clicked on the wrongn one
dont see the big deal happens all the time.

    I guess....

You should log in to your Bebo now, go to her profile, scroll to the comments, click View All, find yours and there'll be a "Delete" option beside it. That'll take it off Bebo. Then yeah, hackers.

Ye your only hope is to lie lie and lie some more.....if all else fails..just keep lying!!;)

Lets be honest if you really did have the hots for your young niece.....Bebo is da last place you would try it on?:p

P.s. any chance of getting that skype address of that dirty tramp that got you into all this trouble...i wouldnt mind giving her a piece of my mind after what she unknowingly lead you into!

You're lucky enough to live in an age where most people are technologically impaired(as you have demonstrated there).

Give the whole "someone hacked my account" excuse and you'll probably get away with it.

I would blame it on hackers and delete my bebo aswell.

Anyone over the age of 20 using bebo should be shot.

I sit beside a guy in work who is 29 and has a bebo. It's the most pathetic thing in the world, seriously.

    Fixed.

As for the original post, First of all. Why exactly does a 40 year old man need to reply for a 17 year old girl? I'm sure she's capable of doing so herself.

Second, I find it hard to believe you confused an instant messenger with a web browser or the bebo comments, if the instant messenger was a web applet.

So, my answer to how a 40 year old man can get away with perving around on bebo when caught. Cross your fingers and hope that the girl you were sending the filthy messages to is over the legal age of consent, then just admit to what you were doing.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, that Bebo nonsense causes more harm than good.

And to hear of a 40yr. old with one of those is just plain dodgy!

So when I turn 20 in a few months I shouldnt be using bebo?

Also id say saying your account was hacked would be the best bet imo.

I wish anyone under 20 wouldnt use boards, but hey, you cant have everything.
While it sorta sucks, bebo is for all ages, just because one cannot fill up their friends list does not mean one should advocate violence on those who can.

boards caters for a lot of communities, as well as its own. Lots of specific-interest forums.

And bebo caters for a lot of uses too. Politicians were using it for campaigning in the election. I can't think of too many ways that it would be useful to a 40 year old man, talking to his niece or suchlike though.

Bebo's handy as a blog-come-homepage if one has relatives abroad. I know a family who share pictures and messages with relations abroad in this way.

As for excuses, if you have a good mate who you can tell about the female stranger, he could take the blame for a "prank" as roundtower2 said.

Tbh, "alt tabbing" yet looking at the keyboard when typing, and thinking of leaving the country is a lot to believe at once. Mabye there's no reply because he left after all??!:p

first of all, he was replying to his 17 year old neice, read the OP again

second, i've not used it myself, but Skype integrates into bebo itself, so maybe its not as silly

Jealous are we? Spot the bebo loner with no friends.

Do as someone previously posted about the view all button, then delete. Then repost a message on your nieces page saying that you were sorry, you don't know how that happened, must have been someone messing, etc. If anyone confronts you personally then tell them the same thing and ask them if they think you would be that stupid as to make comments like that intentionally on your nieces public profile.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 630 ✭✭✭MagnumForce

He was replying to a comment/message FROM his neice, he mispelt "from" as "for" which I do sometimes accidentally too, happens when you're typing fast and your fingers think before you're head, kinda like predictive text on a phone.

So what, he's 40 and uses Bebo, there is no age limit. Bebo is a useful social networking site, there is a whole world of people on Bebo who arn't 13. Radio stations have Bebo's, Political Parties have Bebo. Who cares, once he's not a Paedophile, what difference does it make.

What I find a bit odd is that to post a comment you actually have to click "Save" whereas on Skype one would just have to press the Enter button like all IM software. So it would have been very stupid to not notice that he was using Bebo and not Skype. If indeed he was that stupid and managed to do it by accident and all this is true, then he just needs to delete the comment and explain it to people. He's a grown man, he's allowed have these conversations if he wants, we all make mistakes, like sending text messages to the person you're bitching about to them instead of the person you were bitching about them to for example, who hasn't done something like that, I have.

Forget about all that account was hacked bollox, just leave another comment explaining, she's 17, she'll understand, and so will everyone else, then you can all just have a laugh about it.
