    i was thinking of buying phone online from USA. how do i knw how much duty i will have to pay? its 700 dollars, so prob around 550euro.

    i knw its on revenue.ie somewhere but hard find excatly for phones

    any advice.........

    It's damn near impossible to determine what exactly the customs rate will be as information on the revenue website on this topic is difficult to decipher. One thing I do know is that the standard flat rate is 3.5% and you're likely to have to pay this one. That 3.5% is applied to the total of your goods, plus any local sales tax if applied, plus the cost of shipping and insurance. On top of all that then will be 21% VAT. You'll also have to pay a fee to the shipping agent who will sort all this out for you. That fee is normally between €5 and €20.

    OT, it'd want to be a quare good phone to pay that kind of money for it.
