    Its about a year old, and a few months ago started freezing occasionally and skipping.
    and i had to do a reset
    then about a week or so ago it stopped working.
    it would turn on take forever to get to the "rebuilding" screen then freeze about a quarter of the way up.
    went onto the website and it said to download a new firmware patch and so i did that but it wouldn't recognize the player, so it recommended i do a clean boot, has anyone had this problem, or done a clean boot? it looks kind of difficult and if i made a mistake id be afraid id whipe my computer.
    any help appreciated.

    ps can't return it as it was a gift.
