Pixar's 'WALL-E' teaser trailer

Released next Summer, it's the first Pixar trailer (if you can call it that... minimal actual footage.. barely a teaser i'd say) to grab me in a long time (maybe it's the reminiscence of 'Short Circuit' in it all)!

    Watch the trailer here!

Both 'Ratatouille' and 'Cars' just didn't do it for me (i'm basing this on the trailer of 'Ratatouille' which seems quite lacklustre, but hopefully not as poor as 'Cars').

Release date for 'WALL-E' is June 28th next year and it's plotline is this (courtesy of Wikipedia):
Hundreds of thousands of robots are created to clean up a toxic future earth, but only one remains. A overly consumeristic population has abandoned earth and lives aboard Axiom, a spaceship circling overhead. Buynlarge Inc. is appointed to carry out the clean-up operation, and creates the Waste Allocation Load Lifters -- Earth Class (WALL-E) robots to do the work. But the corporation is an ineffective bureaucracy, and the robots break down over a period of time, leaving just one robot to do the job.

By the year 2700 AD, WALL-E has become somewhat quirky. All that he has learnt of humanity is from the garbage he is cleaning up -- and a copy of Hello, Dolly! that he watches repeatedly on a beat-up VCR. Even though Wally has Spot the cockroach as a friend, he is lonely. It is with great excitement that he observes the arrival of EVE.

EVE's job is to survey the progress of the clean-up operation. She completely ignores WALL-E until they are forced to shelter together from a storm. When EVE finally leaves to return to Axoim, WALL-E joins her - and discovers a whole new world, filled with lazy, obese humans moving about on floating lounge chairs.
Also, the lead character is sooooo cute that we're guaranteed Pixar's gets millions on cuddly toys next year alone!

trailer doesn't give much away, but the story sounds interesting. as you said, cars wasn't the best, so we'll have to wait and see. hopefully it's a return to form for them...

Is it wrong for me to start demanding my own WALL-E on the basis of a trailer? He's adorable! Already I'm anticipating this one, in way that I can't say I am for 'Ratatouille'.

I should correct my original post to be:
Also, the lead character is sooooo cute that we're guaranteed Pixar's gets millions on cuddly toys next year alone... from ixoy's infatuation with a cutesy-wootsy CGI robot!

    :D

He does look cool-ish though... and i've never been less excited for a Pixar film than i am with Ratatouille (but in that way, it might surprise me in that i expected too much of 'Cars' and inevitably felt let-down)

Looks like it could be good.
Also unexcited about Ratatouille, not my favourite concept. But it is Brad Bird, and it is Pixar, so I have a feeling I could be pleasantly surprised.

I thought Cars was quite good actually - certainly better than Nemo. Of course, any dissent in my house about cars leads to 4 year olds bashing you to a pulp..

just watched Ratatouille despite my low expectations (a rat chef in Paris didnt sound ideal plotwise to me) and it was better than i expected, however i feel Pixar have lost something recently as i no longer have the same expectation of their creations which were all great until Cars (which once again wasnt that bad)

Yeah - the trailer is kind of nothing - they're really just trading off their previous hits in it to remind people why they should be excited about their next project.

That said, the story seems pretty interesting and I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for more info as it comes.

Sounds like a great concept. I'm really looking forward to this now. I haven't been particularly hyped about Ratatouille either but most of the reviews on imdb so far seem very positive. And Rottentomatoes is a 100% fresh too (based on 13 reviews) so I think we may have another winner.

    Heard something about

a while back, but nothing since. Glad it hasn't been scrapped.
