Hey boardsies, I'm in a bit of a situation. I'm working for a local authority for the summer, from june to september, and I found out yesterday that jaw surgery I'm due to have in July will have me out of work for 4 weeks.

I'm very worried that they'll just let me go, seeing as I'm employed to relieve other staff during the summer. There are plenty more doing the exact same job as me so I am hoping maybe they will keep me on. I will obviously get a cert but I fear that won't be enough for such a long period when I am only temporary.

I really enjoy the experience and I was hoping to get back again next year. I worked in the same department last year and this is my fourth summer working for them.

Do you think I'll be let go?

(This jaw surgery isn't being done privately so the dates are not flexible and by now it would be impossible to postpone it)

Its impossible to answer that unless someone was in exactly the same situation with the same employers.

Just explain it to them and if they are going to let you go they will tell you and you can work up to that date.
