Gladly , after being thought of as a top level gatekeeper to the Light-Welterweight division in recent years Lovemore N'Dou has finally 'earned' himself a title . He infact beat the decentish Naoufel Ben Rabah in an eliminator and Ricky Hatton declined to face him next(choosing Castillo instead) so N'Dou was made IBF champion .

N'Dou faces young Brooklyn slickster Paulie Malignaggi who up until his fight with Cotto was critisized by fans for being a '****' due to his apparent metrosexuality(I'm not making that up , more people used to complain about the way he dresses than talking about how he he fights). Paulie still dresses the same but no longer receives such remarks and it's all down to that Cotto fight . Cotto was always going to be too good for Malignaggi but it was the option he took of standing toe to toe with Cotto and fighting on the inside that earned him respect . Paulie could have boxed from the outside and lost a clear decision without taking much punishment but instead he gave a gutsy warrior performance and took one hell off a beating of Cotto while making it a good fight in which he won 4/5 rounds .

N'Dou is a come forward pressure fighter with a real good chin(only been down once since he became a Light-Welter many years ago and that was by Junior Witter . He had been floored at Lightweight though too) , a decent punch . N'Dou is always in great shape and has good stamina but is almost 36 now and with the way he fights it will have to catch up with him sometime .

Malignaggi is a very quick , slick fighter who is as featherfisted as they come .
This is partially due to him having a plate in his right hand due to it being broken so many times . If you give him room to work him can pick you off at ease .

I really have to favour Malignaggi here as if N'Dou fights Malignaggi's fight , then Paulie will win an easy decision . However if Malignaggi fights N'Dou's fight I'd still give him a chance of winning due to his apparent ability to fight well on the inside(as shown against Cotto) . Paulie is a lot stronger than you'd imagine his fairly small frame to be and strenght is a big part of N'Dou's style if you equal it , then it'll trouble him .

Although N'Dou can have trouble with speed , he can still work well against quick fighters as he gave Sharba Mitchell a very close fight and beat Ben Rabah(who is all about speed and being elusive) .

It seems obvious enough to me , Malignaggi is simply too quick to lose a fight from the outside and if it's fought on the inside I have to question . Can N'Dou do what Cotto did to win this fight . Can he rough up Malignaggi that bad and win 7/8 rounds(depending on how you saw it) and I simply don't think he can .

Prediction: Malignaggi 116-112 , N'Dou gets some success on the inside and Paulie's lack of power enables him to waiver some caution going forward . However Paulie wins some rounds at range and enough rounds in close to take the fight reasonably comfortably on the cards but a tough fight in reality .

I'll be watching this one with interest , the winner will only be a defence or two away from a fight with Hatton/Castillo/Witter/Harris I reckon .
