Was thinking that too. The deck chair pulls it altogether for the 60s vibe!

Hah. they're great ! must ... resist ... urge ... to buy more ... medium format ... cameras ... What I like about the holga, assuming its the same as my box brownie, is that there's literally nothing you can do except compose, press the shutter, and hope for the best. I was always a little disappointed with the (good !) quality of the shots from my brownie and from my 1920's pocket kodak. I was hoping for some vignetting and wierd focus effects but sadly that wasn't the case. I should have known that cleaning the lenses was a bad idea :-)

Did you dev these yourself ?

What I think is amazing is the trees in the very backround are blurred. Then the ones a little in front are in focus:) ,that old style depth of field I get from it.

I'm probably imagining things though ,cool shot:)

Wow ... you have done wonders with the raw data I provided you ... I have to say I'm particularly astounded at the detail you managed to rescue in the soft toy pic ... great work with a nice old feel to it ...

Defo on for a darkroom session if you are up for it ... though I'd like to finish a roll of Neopan 400 first so I can do a few of my own ...

Will be interesting to see if you can get more detail when we do the high res scans ...

    Cheers people :)

These were mostly horribly overexposed actually :( As you say Daire, you just have to shoot 'n' hope - unless i do the aperture mod on the holga I'm stuck at f13 (ish) with 1/100th (ish!) and the only thing i can control is the speed of the film!

I put them into gunn's this time but I'll be doing the dev myself in about 4 weeks when i get my gear over to dublin with me.

Simon kindly scanned the for me... I did some levels/curves, shadows/highlights and a bit of usm for local contrast. Not sure if I'll manage to get the same results in a darkroom though, but I'll be up for a wee printing session next month anyway, simon ;)

Wait wait...these are far too sharp and clear. Holga is supposed to recreate what the world would look like if you drank two bottles of whiskey and ran around town chasing the streetlights.

Fajitas had some beautiful shots a couple months ago.

Not that these aren't nice, but if you want clear shots then I don't think Holga is the way to go. Embrace the chaos.

Did i say I wanted clear...? When was that, then?

Sheesh, and here was me, revelling in the vignette, the focus fall off, the grain. What an idiot.

granted I know SFA about holga's and the whole holga world, but I think the shots posted are good... I get the whole 'embrace the chaos' thing, but well... Ah balls, lost my train of thought.

Where does the cross processed colour film come into play, oh elvish one?

Cross processed colour film, yes, I do have plans for that... :) I need to find a lab that'd do it though :(

    Transparency processed in C-41 ?
Camera exchange will do it for 35mm at least, I don't know about 120. They have a specific day they do it though, so I suspect they do it just when they're about to replenish all their chemicals.

Both the Camera Exchange and Gunns do it on a Friday if I remember correctly.

Sorry, its just that my experiences with Holgas so far were Fajitas shots that looked like he had bled on them and some a friend in college had done where the Holga was leaking light and he cross-processed the film. I was expecting more of the same.
