I'm thinking of quitting WoW for EVE but am worried that with EVE I'll forever be playing the role of a newbie. Unlike WoW with new servers coming online all the time, EVE is one consistant world, ever changing. Would I forever be playing catch-up with the people that have been playing for the last few years?

Nah man, it's never too late. One of the fantabulous things about eve is that even noobs in small packs can take down older pilots in better ships. You won't be going out solo pirating straight away and killing guys older than you but there will be plenty of ppl your own age to tackle nevermind that there are other things you can do. The start will be admitedly slow but stick with it and see what you think. You can get a 2 week free trial account.

    Give it a go :)

With Eve there are new people starting every day so you'll never be singled out because your character is young. Every pilot in a gang is useful no matter how new they are, and it doesn't take long to train the skills to specialise in a certain area, whatever you find you are most comfortable with.

In Eve the age of your character does not mean you are better then other people. It's not like WoW where higher levels means you are untouchable to people of lower level. In Eve fighting is all about how you use your brain as well as you character's equipment. If you can out smart a 3 year old character then you will kill him.

eve isnt like wow, its a PvP game, and you can pvp from very early on, within about 2 months you can specialise in a frigate, within 4 months you can special in a cruiser or assault ship, within 6 or 7 months you can specialise in a heavy assault ship or battlecruiser or combat recon.

what u gotta understand is that a player who has been playing for 4 years, can only really specialise to the same extent that you can, for example you play for 4 months and specialise in frigate or assault ship, you meet a player who has played for 4 years who is also in an assault ship or frigate, your pretty much on equal terms there coz you can only specialise one type of ship to a certain point.

ofc the older player will probably win because of experiance and know how but you get my drift, my character is about 11 months, i've been killed by 7 month old character, and i've killed a 3 year old character.

so its never too late to start.

Tend to agree.. Due to the nature of eve's training system the older players are moving up and up in ship classes.. and theres huge holes in their fleet, as the older players move on.. Theres always room for newer players to start and be as valued as the 4year old players..

I will say one thing tho.. Eve is hard, and takes a lot of time and effort and really does require a certain type of person to achieve anything in it..

If you come to Eve expecting the s*** your used to in wow.. dont bother.. You appear on my overview.. and i really wont care if you only started playing 2 hours ago.. its back to the cloning vats for ye! :p
