inspection mechanic in cork??

Hi, I'm looking for a reliable mechanic in cork to go look at a few cars for me. Its my first car, and I know nothing about them. Currently I am looking at up to 1.3l colts, clios and corsa's for about 3K. Anyone have any good or bad things to say about these cars? Thanks in advance
