Dual Sim adaptors

Any of you guys tried one of these. I, like probably some of you, carry around a work and personal phone. Have done for years and was always waiting for a phone company to release a handset that could take 2 sim cards. Looks like this aint happening!
The dual sim adaptors are available on ebay. One type uses a ghost sim card and the other requires you to cut out the chip on both your sims and attach to a new sim that takes both. Has anyone tried any of these? How difficult is it to cut your sim cards?

I've heard there may be issues with 3G sims with these adaptors too. Anyone know?

Ideally I'd like the type that doesn't require you to restart your phone when switching numbers.

I don't think its possible to get an adapter that you don't need to restart your phone cause you essentially still have two phones its just that the simcards are now on one convenient package. If you don't want to have to restart your phone you should look into the second line feature on your phone. i don't know if any Irish operators are offering this service, I just know that because in my Nokia manual it says about activating a second line. so basically you have 2 numbers off the one sim. both numbers of course have to be with the same provider

JMc - actually, the type of dual sim that requires you to cut the chips from your existing sims adds an additional menu to your phone allowing you to switch at will without restart. Must check out that second line thing thoug. Cheers.

WBA - I know what your saying but its still two phones isnt it! One phone, one charger, one address book, one car kit etc etc

I used one last week, got from Ebay. Used it with 6230i. Stopped using it as it seemed to shorten battery life by about 50%. No SIM cutting necessary. This one did not require your to restart phone and it added new icon to menu. But swithcing from O2 to Meteor still took quite a while, 3 or 4 minutes. Now I didn't experiment too much. I have all phone numbers on phone, so maybe I should have cleared the O2 sim of numbers, might have made it faster to switch. This shop http://myworld.ebay.ie/pcashop price €4.63, delivery 18 days.

Sorry can't give you a definite yes or no on that, I realy didn't experiment that much, but am pretty sure the phone is tuned to one network at the time.

this is the one I bought:http://cgi.ebay.ie/2-In-1-GSM-Dual-Twin-SIM-Card-Adapter-for-Mobile-Phone_W0QQitemZ130125313823QQihZ003QQcategoryZ68031QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

--- the exact same as the third one down on this page http://www.gr8-ideas.co.uk/products.php?cat=164 but at 1/4 of the price.

Cheers for that. I had found that site and thought £10 was decent price (which it is) but just bought one from ebay for a grand total of €5 which includes shipping! Cheers mate.
