wireless on laptop

i have a dell 640m with wireless card and wireless router in my house but when using the internet the laptop seems very slow to pick up the connection to the net. it takes forever to load the first page but then it works fine if i keep the screen active..i.e. movin from one page to another. but as soon as i leave the page…

i have a dell 640m with wireless card and wireless router in my house but when using the internet the laptop seems very slow to pick up the connection to the net. it takes forever to load the first page but then it works fine if i keep the screen active..i.e. movin from one page to another. but as soon as i leave the page idle for few minutes and say wana go to another webpage it takes forever again to load.
is this beacuse of the laptop or has it something to do with my router?
the signal from my router is strong/very strong majority of the time
