Monopod Help...

Can anyone recommend a good one? I was thinking between the Manfrotto (of course) 790B (which holds 1kg) and the 679B (10kg). So far, the heaviest it would hold would be my 400D and Sigma 70-300, but I don't know exactly how much they weigh...

I bought a 682 and I think it's grand ,it doesn't get as much use as intended though. whereas the tripod does.

I was warned here about not using it much ,but I still went and bought one:o

I've got a Manfrotto 679, which holds my Canon 300mm f/2.8, mounted on my 400D, with Battery Grip and it is never under any pressure. Use it week in, week out.

It has the dual fixing screw.

I've a 679B and again, it gets a fair amount of abuse being covered in sand, dipped in seawater and carrying the dead weight of a 50-500mm Sigma megazoom. I can't fault it. You should be able to handhold the 70-300mm though - at least I generally do.

I picked up a 679B last weekend in Conns. It holds my D200 and Nikon 300mm f/2.8 with ease. Would highly recommend it.

I have a Manfrotto 479 with a benbo head, used it with a D60/20D with a sigma 70-200 2.8 with no problems. I have no idea what the weight limit on it is, but I'd guess that your set up is way under the max.
