U.S.A plug adapter?

    Hi!

    Does anyone know what kind of adapter i need to be able to plug in my laptop in America and where i could find one online?

    The powerblock/adapter for your laptop should be 110-230v so all you should need is to replace the lead that plugs into the wall with a U.S. one.

    You will pick up one of these for a couple of bucks(5 max) in Radio shack or an electrical store in the states.

    NB some laptops plug directly into the mains - in which case this will not work.
    But in that case I think you should pick something up for around 30 bucks or so.

    As you flying out from Dublin / Shannon airport you'll find Irish/British plug to US plug adapter, as long as your laptop PSU is 110-220v your fine. This is NOT a power convertor!!

    It's actually advisable to replace the cable with a US one.
    Sometimes, using an Irish laptop on a 110V supply can cause the fuse in the plug to blow. If you decrease the voltage you increase the number of amps proportionally as per ohms law. So, it's possible that if there's a 3A fuse in the plug it will blow when used in the US as it will draw the same number of watts at lower voltage.

    So, at the very least bring spare fuses - ideally just get a US cable :)
