Failed a LOT of exams

I just got my reults off the Modularisation website. Turns out I've failed 5 exams and need to repeat them. I just have a few questions:

Will they allow me to repeat the 5?
    How much does it cost?
And are the repeats the last week of August/first week of September?
Also are they held in DIT?

    Regards,
    Darren

Yeah you can repeat any number of exams. The cost is 50 euro apparently, although i repeated three last year and they didn't charge me, depends who you see in the exams office i think. They are usually the first or second week in september. They are held wherever you did your exams before, and again the rooms are posted on a noticeboard on the day of the exams. Same procedure with the exam card and id etc. You will need to go in to whatever DIT your in to register for them in the next few weeks. You should be notified of this by post.

Do I need the same exam card/id as the last time, or will they resend them?

Thanks for answering the questions, was panicing a bit!

No they will issue you a new exam card with a new number, you will use the same id as before though. Repeating exams is not a big deal at all, failing them the second time round though can get messy cos you could end up failing the whole year or having to carry subjects.

I failed 6. I win. But two were from last semester.

You should be very proud of yourself.

They'll send you out the form if you wish to repeat by the end of July. Then they'll send you out your new examination card and timetable.

    Best of luck

Well I don't think luck will be an issue here. I think I'll just cut my loses by trying to pass as many as I can during the repeats so I don't have to pay so much for repeating second year.

sorry to be off topic slightly, but is it possible to complete a year in DIT without failing exams? In which department are you people studying? Is it the case of some departments being harder on students than other ones?

I'm a bit worried by the sight of so many people failing. I literally can't afford to screw up in anything college-related.

Ah loads of people get through without failing things... depends on the course though really. Alot of the time the CA will mess a lot of people up, it did with me anyway, at the time it seems a joke but then when you take that chunk off the final exam....ouch. :P

I don't think it's ever a case of departments deliberately failing people.

i wasn't being serious, its not any harder than any other college, tho the bolton street peeps do fail quite a bit.
but you can talk your way out of it most times :D

I dunno... I'm pretty sure the attitude to repeats in DIT is far more relaxed then any other college I've experienced. In Trinity you'd nearly want to wear a disguise with the shame of having to do repeats, but in DIT it's nearly just another thing to do before goin' for a brew :p

    I'll drink to that!

    3 repeats for me!

Not in my experience. 70% of my class in Trinity failed. You were odd if you didn't.

I've never repeated an exam or continuous assessment in my 4 years in dit, just got my final year results yesterday and passed everything, was happy to keep my record unbroken

For repeats the cost is 55 euro regardless of how many subjects you're repeating. No limit on how many you can resit as far as I'm aware. Fail again in the repeats and you're looking at repeating the year which is expensive and to be avoided if possible!

Closing date for repeat applications is July 17th. After that there's a late fee added with a final deadline of July 30th. So get the applications in now! It's starightforward fill out a form hand in the cash and away you go. The 55 euro is just a flat fee, it's not on a per-subject basis. Best of luck!
