Tommy Murphy Cup

Louth, my county won this last year and have gone from strength to strength, now looking to be likely Leinster finalists but do you think all teams competiting in this competition this year will take it seriously?

I see some of the Antrim lads are heading to America and the vibe I got from Wicklow fans was that the team wouldn't really be bothering too much with it.

I think they should give the winners a place in the last 16 of the quals as a reward. I mean that would make sense and give the cup some purpose.

Definitely gave Louth a lot of confidence but I think there were other factors involved in that. I don't think it would be any harm for the likes of Wicklow to take it seriously. I know they're annoyed at not being allowed to take part in the qualifiers but their confidence would have taken a bit of a knock after the second half performance against Louth. It would be nice to see them win the Tommy Murphy Cup and a few convincing victories in it could build up their confidence again. I don't think it's a great attitude to just dismiss the competition entirely. Surely any kind of silverware would be a boost to most of these counties. If nothing else it will grab the fans attention and create a bit of a buzz about the game in those counties. Putting them into the latter stages of the qualifiers would be a good thing I think. It would definitely give a more competitive edge to it. What stage is the Tommy Murphy Cup final played though? Would it be in time to put them in round 3 say? It's purely hypothetical anyway but it could have softened the blow of being eliminated from the qualifiers for those counties. It could be awkward to implement with regard to even numbers etc. though, I mean where do they make the extra space in the last 12 say?

Surely they could work around this.

Well if you look at the qualifiers draw? thread it's complicated enough already  I definitely agree with you though, I think the winner should be accomodated somehow.

??? I'm guessing you might be talking about Danny McKenna but that ain't me. I actually haven't lived there in a good few years and don't play for the club anymore. Been travelling around and living in the Big Smoke now. What club are you from?

Don't really play for Hunterstown, just the odd junior match and the odd training. Richie Cunningham's brother
